Soil salinity is difficult to overcome. Salts can be removed from the soil by leaching if drainage is not restricted. Watering plants more frequently can reduce salt injury. Adverse effects of soil salinity can also be reduced by promoting vigorous growth through good management and adequate fertility. Originally published 1994. Adapted and revised 2020.
