{"id":1921,"date":"2018-12-06T18:30:17","date_gmt":"2018-12-07T01:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/agambassadors\/?p=1921"},"modified":"2018-12-06T18:30:17","modified_gmt":"2018-12-07T01:30:17","slug":"the-scares-of-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/agambassadors\/the-scares-of-college\/","title":{"rendered":"The \u201cScares\u201d of College"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With Halloween coming up next week it has made me think of all the \u201cscares\u201d of college I\u2019ve experienced over the past three years.\u00a0 The initial \u201cscares\u201d of what if I don\u2019t like my major or will I make new friends were ever present thoughts as I came to the University of Wyoming as a freshman.\u00a0 These \u201cscares\u201d were quickly put to rest as I started my classes and knew that I was in the perfect spot and was right where I should be.\u00a0 As college continued I got into a groove that worked for me and I learned how to study for the big tests and knew how to be prepared for each thing that came up.\u00a0 I got involved in a couple of clubs and this helped me meet several people with the same interests as me and I was able to meet new people with each club meeting.<\/p>\n<p>My next year of college further proved that my major was the right one for me and that I was headed in the right direction for my career.\u00a0 I learned how to deal with upper division courses and how to make time in my schedule for other things that were important to me.\u00a0 As the semester flew by more and more of my \u201cscares\u201d were passed by as well.\u00a0 I found several resources that were able to help me with any questions I had such as the Academic and Student Affairs Office and other study groups for different courses.<\/p>\n<p>As I started my Junior year of college this year I found new \u201cscares\u201d in my mind and they were not about college (as much as they use to be) as they were more about life after college.\u00a0 I\u2019ve had to start thinking about my future and important questions about where I wanted to end up and what field I want to work in the rest of my life.\u00a0 These \u201cscares\u201d will probably be ever present for me the next year and a half and hopefully I will be able to cure a few of them by the time graduation comes around.<\/p>\n<p>Although college has many \u201cscares\u201d in it, I am so thankful for them because with \u201cscares\u201d in my life it shows just how much I\u2019ve overcome and how that all the current \u201cscares\u201d in my life I know that someday they will no longer be here.\u00a0 I\u2019ve learned that being scared is okay because it means you care about what you are doing and what a great thing that is.<\/p>\n<p>-Lexie Dockery<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1922\" src=\"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/agambassadors\/wp-content\/uploads\/The-Many-Scares-of-College-188x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/agambassadors\/wp-content\/uploads\/The-Many-Scares-of-College-188x300.png 188w, https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/agambassadors\/wp-content\/uploads\/The-Many-Scares-of-College.png 302w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 188px) 100vw, 188px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With Halloween coming up next week it has made me think of all the \u201cscares\u201d of college I\u2019ve experienced over the past three years.\u00a0 The initial \u201cscares\u201d of what if I don\u2019t like my major or will I make new friends were ever present thoughts as I came to the University of Wyoming as a &#8230;
