especially valuable because they provide a step-by-step plan to reach our goal. They provide us with a sense of direction, motivation, and clear focus\u00a0for\u00a0actions to take.<\/p><p>S \u2013 Specific: A good goal is specific &#8211; think about a specific food group or activity, rather than\u00a0generally eating\u00a0healthier or being more active.\u00a0<\/p><p>M \u2013 Measurable: Measurable goals\u00a0have a number attached to them, such as eating one extra cup of vegetables\/day or walking for 10 minutes after dinner.\u00a0<\/p><p>A \u2013 Attainable: Goals that are attainable can be acted on and met with reasonable effort.\u00a0<\/p><p>R \u2013 Relevant: Goals should be relevant to what a participant wants to\u00a0attain.\u00a0<\/p><p>T \u2013 Time-Bound: A time-bound goal has an end date (for example, after one week), after which the individual can evaluate their progress and set new goals.<\/p><p>An example of a healthy eating SMART Goal is:<\/p><p>To improve my health, I will eat at least 1 fruit and 1\u00a0vegetable for\u00a05 days this week.\u00a0<\/p><p>Once you have reached your goal and it has become a routine, add another goal until you have achieved a balanced diet following\u00a0the Dietary Guidelines for
