What is a Ranch Camp?

Wyoming Ranch Camp is a five day program that covers key aspects of ranch management, including plant science and ecology, soil and animal science, economics, ranch recreation, and range management. Participants work in teams to develop a ranch plan tailored to the host ranch.Β 

Courses are taught by University of Wyoming Extension personnel and local producers. The camp is designed for agriculture’s upcoming generation to build the skills needed to tackle real-world ranch decisions.

Ranch Economics

Ranch business management and economic tools that support sustainable decisions.

Ranch Tour and Diversification

On site learning focused on ranch diversification and employee management.

Soil and Range Science

Sustainable pasture and range management, stocking rates, and grazing timing.

Animal Science and Ranch Plan

Managing livestock genetics, nutrition, and health, then pulling it all together in a ranch management plan presentation to a panel of judges.
