What is a Ranch Camp?

Wyoming Ranch Camp is a five day program that covers key aspects of ranch management, including plant science and ecology, soil and animal science, economics, ranch recreation, and range management. Participants work in teams to develop a ranch plan tailored to the host ranch.

Courses are taught by University of Wyoming Extension personnel and local producers. The camp is designed for agriculture’s upcoming generation to build the skills needed to tackle real-world ranch decisions.

Wyoming Ranch Camp helps prepare the next generation of agriculturalists through five days of hands-on learning on working ranches. Ranch Camp goes beyond classroom learning. Participants work with livestock, evaluate soils and rangelands, visit working ranches, and collaborate in teams to develop a management plan for a host ranch. They finish the week by presenting their recommendations to ranchers and agricultural professionals.

Managing livestock genetics, nutrition, and health, then pulling it all together in a ranch management plan presentation to a panel of judges.

Ranch Camp

A five-day, hands-on ranch management experience in Carbon County, Wyoming.

Learn ranch economics, soil and range science, livestock management, and more while building a real ranch plan with industry experts
