The Wyoming 4-H Youth Development Program could not function without the time and expertise from adult volunteers.\u00a0 They are truly the heart of our program!<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

As an approved Wyoming 4-H Volunteer you can take on a variety of roles in the 4-H program.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Project Volunteer<\/strong> – Coordinates and teaches members within a specific project area, such as photography,
foods, or beef. 4-H volunteer project leaders are the “backbone” of 4-H.<\/p>

Club Volunteer<\/strong> – Provides overall 4-H club leadership. Also coordinates members, parents, and the involvement of other leaders. 4-H Club Leaders can be an individual, a team, or a group of people that have specific roles that fulfill the 4-H Club Leader responsibilities.<\/p>

Activity Volunteer<\/strong> – Directs activities, such as fund raising, recreation, community service, and promotion. Members learn through involvement in the activity.<\/p>

Coach<\/strong> \u2013 Coordinate and teaches members who are planning to participate in a contest or event.
Committee Member \u2013 The 4-H program runs well when much of the work is done by committees of youth and adults who have interest in a particular area. As an approved volunteer you can serve as a voting member or in leadership of a committee to help plan a particular part of the 4-H program.<\/p>

Council Member<\/strong> \u2013 Many county programs have 4-H councils that serve in advisory roles to assist the 4-H educator in providing the 4-H experience. The County 4-H Council helps to fundraise, advocates for the 4-H program, can coordinate county level events, and overall supports the 4-H work in the county. The County Council does not serve in a policy making role.<\/p>

Chaperone \u2013<\/strong> Many of our events require our youth to stay overnight, like camps, contests, and trips. We have very strict policies for those volunteers staying overnight with you. Adults who chaperone:
\u2022 Must be 21 years of age or older.
\u2022 Need to participate in an additional chaperone specific training.
\u2022 There should be at least 2 deep leadership at overnight events.
\u2022 The Wyoming 4-H program requires at a 1:10 adult to youth ratio at all 4-H events.<\/p>
