{"id":5668,"date":"2022-10-15T10:37:24","date_gmt":"2022-10-15T16:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/parkcounty\/?page_id=5668"},"modified":"2026-03-10T10:15:03","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T16:15:03","slug":"resources","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/parkcounty\/4-h\/resources\/","title":{"rendered":"FAQs"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"5668\" class=\"elementor elementor-5668\" data-elementor-post-type=\"page\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bc5bbed e-con-full e-flex e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"bc5bbed\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8072b4f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8072b4f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Park County 4-H Frequently Asked Questions<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a669dbb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a669dbb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Where do I find information? <\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Our office will do our best to answer any questions you may have!\u00a0 located at 655 E 5th St in Powell or 1501 Stampede Ave Suite 2220 in Cody<\/li><li>Online &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwyo.edu\/4-h\/index.html\">4-H | UW Extension<\/a><\/li><li>your club leader is always a great source of information.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>How do I sign up for 4-H?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li>Visit our <a href=\"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/parkcounty\/4-h\/join-4-h\/\">join 4-H<\/a> page<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>After I sign up, then what do I do?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"text-align: left;\">Join a club!\u00a0 We have a list of clubs that are great.\u00a0 4-H is best when members are active in a community club.\u00a0 Many life skills are learned in this setting such as leadership.\u00a0 They will help you get started learning about 4-H and your projects.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>I want to do a <a href=\"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/parkcounty\/4-h\/clubs\/\">project<\/a>, but there isn&#8217;t a leader.\u00a0 What do I do?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"text-align: left;\">Unfortunately some projects don&#8217;t have leaders.\u00a0 That doesn&#8217;t mean you can&#8217;t learn!\u00a0 You can buy project books <a href=\"https:\/\/shop4-h.org\/pages\/curriculum\">online<\/a> or your friends and family that are knowledgeable about the area you are interested in can teach you.\u00a0 4-H is an informal learning process that should be fun and family oriented!<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>How many <a href=\"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/parkcounty\/4-h\/clubs\/\">projects<\/a> should I do?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"text-align: left;\">In your first you, we recommend you only take on one or two projects.\u00a0 They can be time consuming and you want to do a good job!\u00a0 Then you can take more because you will have a better understanding of what you are taking on.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>4-H is just about<a href=\"https:\/\/parkcountyeventsandfair.com\/park-county-fair\/\"> Fair<\/a>, right?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li>Not really&#8230;though good things happen at fair, 4-H can happen without fair.\u00a0 I know right now you are saying &#8220;WHAT!?!?&#8221;, but it&#8217;s true.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>4-H is for farm kids, so why should I join?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li>4-H is for everyone!\u00a0 We have over<a href=\"https:\/\/wyoextension.org\/parkcounty\/4-h\/clubs\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a060 projects<\/a> in Wyoming that are for kids in any setting.\u00a0 Consider trying Robotics, Food &amp; Nutrition, Knitting, or Rocketry!\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>What is the point of having a leader?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"text-align: left;\">Leaders are amazing!\u00a0 Don&#8217;t forget to thank them because they volunteer to help you!\u00a0 They may not always have answers for you, but they are there to support you in your projects and help you find answers. Please use their knowledge and cherish them.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Why should I participate in my club?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li style=\"text-align: left;\">Well, you&#8217;re missing out if you don&#8217;t.\u00a0 Clubs are a way to interact with other youth.\u00a0 You can also often find answers to project questions in your club.\u00a0 Clubs are a community that is there to support each other in learning, create better youth, and most importantly HAVE FUN!\u00a0 They can do it without you, but it sure would be better with your participation.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>What is a Portfolio and do I have to do it?<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>&#8220;Have to&#8221; is quite strong wording.\u00a0 The 4-H Portfolio is a way to record what you did during your year of 4-H and write down your accomplishments as well.\u00a0 It is a compilation of how your year went.\u00a0 <strong>It serves many purposes! <\/strong><ul><li>A record of your year -Captures things you may forget<\/li><li>A way to think about the learning you have done in 4-H<\/li><li>You can turn it in for prizes!<\/li><li>Later when you apply for scholarships, you can use this record to fill out scholarship applications So, you are rewarded for filling out your portfolio and it is an achievement.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Congratulations if you do it!\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t, you won&#8217;t be punished from the 4-H office<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Park County 4-H Frequently Asked Questions Where do I find information?
