Description:

This extension bulletin describes Wyoming’s water resources (e.g., groundwater versus surface water supplies, rain versus snowpack) and water’s different end uses (e.g., agriculture versus municipal) in the state. It also describes how water is allocated under state water law as well as some of the important policy issues facing state policymakers and water users today.

This an update to an earlier extension bulletin, #969R, entitled "Wyoming's Water Resources." (Authors of the previous version were Jim Jacobs and Don Brosz.) We have changed the name of the updated bulletin in response to the comment of a reviewer, who noted that this bulletin discusses legal and policy issues as well as describing water’s physical availability.
