Big Horn County

South Big Horn Conservation District

SBHCD offers a variety of trees and shrubs through its seedling tree program, including fruit and berry varieties that are acclimated to Big Horn County, and helps landowners design conservation plantings on properties within south Big Horn County. Residents can order trees and shrubs for restoration efforts associated with habitat projects and living snow fences. In 2024, the district began collaborating with Greybull High School to start a community garden at The Buff Ranch (see listing above). The district is involved in a variety of other projects, including ones relating to soil and water conservation and quality, habitat for greater sage-grouse, and removal of invasive Russian olive trees.
