Specialty Crop

Students learn about horticulture, gardening, and food production through the school’s hydroponic & aeroponic systems and FarmBot.

The organization educates beekeepers about protecting & improving bee habitat and building sustainable hives to house bees throughout the year.

UCCD hosts specialty-crop related workshops and tours of area farms and gardens, and offers seedling tree and shrub programs, including fruits.

Specialty-crop entries in the Open, 4-H, and FFA contests include the popular ‘Preserves’ category (preserves, jellies, pickles, and many others).

UW Extension offers workshops based on interest, including canning and horticulture, conducts yard visits, and has a Master Gardener program.

Locally produced honey is available at Benedict’s Market in Mountain View and Eve’s Garden in Evanston.
