Strawberries under grow lights
A variety of research takes place at the Laramie Research and Extension Center. Among the studies is one by Rraidoon Karimi, a visiting scholar in the UW Department of Plant Sciences who is investigating the effects of supplemental far-red and blue lights for enhanced growth and development of ever-bearing strawberries in a vertical growing system.
Strawberries under grow lights
Motorists driving by the LREC greenhouse complex at night are often greeted by greenhouses that are pink or blue in color. In 2024, this particular greenhouse was being used to study the effects of supplemental far-red and blue lights for enhanced growth and development of ever-bearing strawberries in a vertical growing system.
