Basic Food Safety Training for Wyoming’s Food Industry<\/h2>\n

Taking the SERVSAFE\u00ae FOOD HANDLER course ONLINE<\/strong>
\nThis course is designed for all food service workers to take\u00a0and will not fulfill the new mandatory Manager’s education requirement.\u00a0 We encourage a proactive approach to food\u00a0safety education and encourage all establishments to educate their staff with\u00a0the basic food handler course that is offered in Teton County as well as online\u00a0through servsafe.com.<\/a> This course is designed to teach basic food safety to all\u00a0staff but may be required for at least one person per shift based on inspection\u00a0performance.<\/p>\n

  1. Hit How to get\u00a0started located below the EMPLOYEE TRAINING SERVSAFE\u00ae FOOD HANDLER box.<\/li>\n
  2. Click the\u00a0state of Wyoming located on the map of the United States.<\/li>\n
  3. Click on Add\u00a0to Shopping Cart in the ServSafe\u00ae Food Handler Online Course & Assessment\u00a0box shown below Assessment box shown below.<\/li>\n
  4. After\u00a0completing the 40 question online assessment print your certificate and bring to an instructor to sign.<\/li>\n
  5. This is a\u00a0non-proctored test and you may complete it at your own pace.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Food Protection Manager Certification in Teton County<\/h2>\n

    Four methods are available to obtain Food Protection Manager Certification in Teton County:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Participate in\u00a0a locally scheduled class.<\/li>\n
    2. Self-study\u00a0with a book purchased from University of Wyoming Extension, online or borrowed from Teton\u00a0County Library<\/li>\n
    3. Purchase an\u00a0online ServSafe\u00ae Manager\u2019s course from ServSafe.com<\/a><\/li>\n
    4. Challenge the\u00a0exam<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Option 1. Local SERVSAFE\u00ae Managers Classes<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Occasionally\u00a0the manager\u2019s class will be offered here.\u00a0This includes a full day of test preparation and the exam on paper. You\u00a0may call University of\u00a0 Wyoming Extension office at 307-733-3087 to see if there are any\u00a0upcoming classes offered.\u00a0 You will pay\u00a0and sign up for the class through the Extension Office.If you prefer to take the classes in person, call us at 733-3087 to get on the waiting list for a class as no classes are currently scheduled. \u00a0Classes are held at the 4-H Building located at 255 W. Deloney in Jackson
        \nOnce a Class is Scheduled, Pre-Registration and Pre-Payment is Required.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Option 2. Preparing for the SERVSAFE\u00ae Certification by Self-Study<\/strong>
        \nThe most efficient method for many establishments is to\u00a0purchase or borrow a book.\u00a0 A purchased\u00a0book may be used multiple times by others that wish to take the certification
        \nexam in the future.\u00a0 For this method\u00a0follow these steps:<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. You may\u00a0purchase English or Spanish ServSafe\u00ae Manager\u2019s books from University of Wyoming Extension\u00a0Office located at 255 W. Deloney for $51.00. \u00a0Their phone number is 307-733-3087; or<\/li>\n
        2. Purchase a\u00a0book online; or<\/li>\n
        3. There are also\u00a0two English and two Spanish ServSafe\u00ae Managers book available to check out at\u00a0the Teton County Library.\u00a0 Type in\u00a0ServSafe\u00ae when doing a search on their database.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Option 3. Taking the Managers Food Safety Course Online<\/strong>
          \nThere are several ways to add the ServSafe\u00ae Online manager\u00a0course to your shopping cart to purchase.\u00a0\u00a0The following describes one route.<\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Hover over the STUDENTS tab and click PURCHASE<\/li>\n
          2. Click SHOP SERV SAFE<\/li>\n
          3. Choose MANAGER ONLINE TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION EXAMS<\/li>\n
          4. Add the ServSafe\u00ae Manager online course to your cart and\u00a0proceed to checkout.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Option 4. Challenge the Exam<\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            1. If you so\u00a0choose you may challenge this exam.\u00a0 This\u00a0means you may take the test without completing any of the first three choices.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              TAKING THE EXAM<\/h3>\n
                \n
              1. Once you have\u00a0completed your method of choice to prepare for the exam(options 2, 3 and 4)\u00a0 you must call the University of Wyoming Extension office\u00a0at 307-733-3087 to sign up for a proctored exam session.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The proctor days will be the 1st & 3rd\u00a0Fridays of each month from 1-3 p.m.<\/li>\n
              2. If you are\u00a0unable to take the proctored test at the Extension Office you may take it at Central Wyoming College located in the Center for the Arts at 265 S. Cache\u00a0Street. To schedule a proctor time\u00a0there call Amy Madera at 733-4211. There is a $15 fee for this service, but the\u00a0schedule should be more flexible.<\/li>\n
              3. Before you arrive to take the exam you must\u00a0purchase an exam voucher online from ServSafe\u00ae.com<\/a>. After you login, go to the\u00a0Purchase tab. Select ServSafe\u00ae Manager\u2019s in drop down. View Products and then scroll to\u00a0the very bottom of the page and purchase the online voucher for $36.\u00a0 You must bring the voucher number with you to\u00a0the proctor session.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                3. Go to New\u00a0User box on right side and hit Create New Profile tab<\/li>\n
