What is On-Farm Research?
On-farm research is when producers and researchers work together to test new practices on working farms or ranches. This approach can help discover practical, locally-relevant solutions to some of the unique challenges that Wyoming producers face. For producers, partnering with researchers can help reduce the risk of trying something new, like a drought-tolerant forage variety or new weed control method. Our goal is to help Wyoming producers address some local challenges and ensure research is grounded in the realities of Wyoming agriculture.

What happens if I sign up?
Producers can sign up by filling out the 5-min survey on the home page. The survey asks questions about your operation (including what crops or livestock you raise) and about the topics or research questions you're interested in. Researchers at the University of Wyoming or other local institutions can use the survey data to design research projects that address these questions, and to apply for grants to fund this research.
By signing up, you are NOT committing to participate in any research project. You may be contacted by a researcher interested in learning more or working with you, and you can decide whether or not to accept. Your information is confidential, and will only be shared with verified researchers or anonymously.
How can I benefit from the network?
University researchers have ongoing projects focused on topics like livestock health, drought-tolerant crops, soil fertility, and many others. By submitting your research questions, you can help drive research that addresses the concerns most relevant to your area. If you are contacted to be involved in a research project, you will likely be offered compensation for your time and effort.
