Collecting Samples:

  1. Fill out the form as completely as possible. Small details can be very helpful.
  2. If possible, send a picture of the problem (a close-up and a picture of the whole plant) to our e-mail address or send it along with the sample.
  3. Send the entire plant or plants when possible. For shrubs or trees, send several 6-8” long branches.
  4. Please only send samples that show symptoms and are still alive. Plant material that is dead is difficult or impossible to diagnose.

Sending Samples:

  1. Place samples with a dry paper towel (don’t add water or samples may turn to mush by the time they arrive) inside of a plastic bag.
  2. Place the sample bag and the form inside a sturdy box.
  3. Send the samples soon after they are collected. Deteriorated samples are difficult or impossible to diagnose.
  4. Please ship the samples by overnight or 2-3 day shipping.
  5. You may also drop off the samples at the address listed. Please call before dropping them off to ensure that someone is in the office.
  6. Send samples early in the week (Monday or Tuesday).

Submitting Photo Images (Photos greatly aid the diagnostic procedure)

  1. Close up or affected area
  2. Whole plant
  3. Picture of surrounding area
  4. Check focus!
