Runzas
Runzas are a hearty meal made with whole-wheat flour and stuffed with meat and cabbage. This recipe uses CNP Bread-in-a-Bag, a quick and easy recipe for homemade bread, rolls, pizza dough, cinnamon rolls, and more.

Ingredients
- ½ pound lean ground beef (beef, turkey, or game)
- ½ onion (chopped )
- 2 cups chopped cabbage (or prepared cabbage mix)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 recipe CNP Bread-in-a-Bag
- Nonstick spray
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray baking sheet (any size) with nonstick spray.
- Brown beef and onion in skillet. Drain fat.
- Add cabbage and cover. Cook 5-7 minutes until cabbage is tender crisp. Drain off liquid. Add salt and pepper and mix well.
- Cool mixture in refrigerator while making CNP Bread-in-a-Bag dough.
- Roll half of the CNP Bread-in-a-Bag dough to form a 12x14-inch rectangle. Cut into 16 squares. Place 1 to 2 Tablespoons of meat mixture in the middle of 8 squares. Moisten dough edges with water. Top with 8 remaining squares. Press dough firmly around edges.
- Place Runzas on a baking sheet. Let rise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.

- Make it quick: Put filling on whole-wheat hamburger buns. No baking required!
- Add Cheese: Add 1 Tbsp shredded low-fat cheese.
- Add Vegetables: Use CNP Vegetable Mix and shredded low-fat cheese.
- Change Protein: Use CNP Meat Sauce and shredded low-fat cheese.
- Pot Pie Pocket: Use peas, carrots, and cooked chicken pieces in a CNP Magic Mix Thick White Sauce.
- Pizza Pocket: Use pepperoni slices, mushrooms, shredded low-fat cheese, and tomato sauce.
- Mix it up: Use cubed ham, broccoli, cauliflower, and shredded low-fat cheese.
