There are two ways to cook rice depending on your preference and how much time you have. You can find rice in bulk packages which cost less per ounce than seasoned packets or instant rice. Brown rice a whole grain while white rice is like white flour where important nutrients have been removed during processing.

Rinse rice in cool water, then follow one of the methods below.
Stove Cooked Method
Combine rice, water, and salt in a pan.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover pot and simmer for 45-55 minutes for brown rice OR 15-18 minutes for white rice, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
Oven Baked Method
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Combine ingredients in an oven-safe dish with lid, or cover dish with foil.
Place dish in preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes for brown rice OR 30 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
