CNP Spice Rub

This spice rub works well on meat or roasted vegetables. Spice mixes can be expensive at the store and often include added sodium.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 Tablespoons paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 Tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 Tablespoon cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, jar, or plastic bag. Mix well.
  • Store in a tightly sealed container. Label and date. Keep in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

Notes

  • Use to prepare ‘blackened’ meat, fish, game meat, or poultry. Rub seasoning on thawed meat. Let it sit in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight. Cook over high heat.
  • Sprinkle over grilled or roasted vegetables.
