Instant Oatmeal Packets

Ingredients
 

  • 3 cups quick oats
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 resealable bags (or containers with lids)

Instructions
 

  • Put 1 cup of oats into blender or food processor and whirl at high speed until oats are a flour-like consistency.
  • Place 2 Tablespoons of the blended oats, ¼ cup quick oats, and a dash of salt into 8 small containers with lids or resealable plastic bags.
  • When ready to serve, empty contents of one container into bowl. Add ¾ cup boiling water. Stir and let stand for 3 minutes. Add more or less water for desired thickness.

Notes

Variations
  • Apple-Cinnamon: Add 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and 2 Tablespoons chopped dried apples to each packet.
  • Brown Sugar & Raisins: Add 1 teaspoon brown sugar and 1 Tablespoon raisins to each packet.
  • Sweetened Oats: Add 1 teaspoon sugar to each packet.
  • Wheat Germ: Add 2 Tablespoons wheat germ to each packet.
