Hummus
This recipe is easy to make and less expensive than store-bought hummus brands. Try it with your favorite vegetables.

Ingredients
- 1 15-ounce can canned chickpeas or garbanzo beans
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (or 2 chopped cloves or 1 tsp minced)
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
- ⅛ teaspoon salt (optional)
Instructions
- Drain chickpeas and save the liquid.
- Mash chickpeas with a large spoon, potato masher, hand mixer, blender, or food processor until smooth.
- Add seasonings. Mix until blended. If hummus is too thick, add a little saved liquid or water.
- Serve with whole-grain crackers, vegetables sticks, or tortilla chips.
