Red Enchilada Sauce

Ingredients
 

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tablespoons CNP Mexican Seasoning (or chili powder)
  • 2 cups low sodium chicken broth (cold)
  • 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (2 tsp minced or 4 garlic cloves)
  • Water (as needed)

Instructions
 

  • In a large saucepan, lightly brown flour over medium-high heat, stirring often.
  • When browned, add chili powder. Heat just long enough to warm the chili powder.
  • Slowly add broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  • Add tomato sauce and garlic. Cook 15-20 minutes , or until mixture is thick and smooth. If it is too thick, add a little water.
