Create Your Own Skillet Meal

Mix and match your favorite ingredients to bring new ideas to dinnertime while saving time and planning ahead.

Skillet Meal Ingredients

Protein

1 - 2 cups
cooked or canned


• Beans or lentils
• Beef, chicken, game, ham, lamb, pork, turkey, or veal; ground or cubed
• Eggs 
• Firm tofu, cubed
• Tuna, salmon, or other fish

Sauce

1 can condensed soup +
1 1/4 cup low-fat milk or water



• 1 cups CNP Magic Mix + 2 cups water or broth
• Cream of celery soup
• Cream of chicken soup
• Cream of mushroom soup
• Cream of potato soup
• Onion soup
• Tomato soup

Flavoring

Choose 1 or more

• 2 teaspoons any CNP Seasoning
• 1-2 teaspoons dried herbs
• 2 garlic cloves, chopped (1/2 tsp powder, 1 tsp minced)
• 1/2 cup Homemade Salsa

Vegetables

3 cups fresh, frozen, or canned







• Broccoli
• Carrots
• Cauliflower
• Celery
• CNP Vegetable Mix
• Corn
• Green beans
• Green pepper
• Lima beans
• Mixed vegetables
• Peas
• Spinach

Grain

1 cup uncooked

• Brown rice
• Bulgar
• Whole-wheat pasta

Baking Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. If baking the casserole right away, spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with nonstick spray.
  3. Choose at least one item from each row on the chart below. Prepare ingredients.
  4. Arrange ingredients in a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  5. Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes, or until bubbly.

Freezing Instructions

  1. Line the casserole dish with freezer paper.
  2. Put together the casserole following the steps above.
  3. Wrap the freezer paper around the casserole, covering the top. Freeze solid.
  4. To use the dish for other meals, remove the casserole from the baking dish and place it in a resealable plastic bag. Place in the freezer.
  5. When ready to heat, remove the freezer paper and place the frozen casserole in the baking dish. Bake at 375°F for 1 hour.

Tuna Garden Skillet

  • 1 12-ounce can tuna, drained
  • 1 cup CNP Magic Mix
  • 2 cups water or broth
  • 2 teaspoons CNP Herb Ranch Seasoning
  • 1 cup canned peas, drained
  • 1 cup canned corn, drained
  • 2 cups whole-wheat or egg noodles, uncooked
  • 1/2 cup low-fat cheese, shredded

Spanish Macaroni

  • 1 15-ounce can black beans, undrained
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 11/4 cups low-fat milk
  • 2 teaspoons CNP Mexican Seasoning
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cups whole-wheat macaroni, uncooked
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
