My Journey

As a little girl, I couldn’t get enough of my puppy, my neighbors’ horses, or any other animal that was close to me! It wasn’t until high school, though, that I began to learn about my passions and develop a sense of who I was and what I wanted to pursue. Thanks to my amazing FFA advisor, and all of the opportunities she pushed me to take advantage of, I found myself very interested in Veterinary Science. Through my experiences in FFA, I was able to compete at the national level with an Agri-Science project, as well as in the Veterinary Science competition. I worked at our local vet clinic in Worland, Wyoming and found myself envisioning what I would be like as a veterinarian.

When I was a senior, I had no idea where I wanted to go to school. I knew that I wanted a school that was small enough that I would feel like more than a statistic, but large enough to provide me with opportunities that would help me advance to my goal of becoming a veterinarian. When I first visited the University of Wyoming, I had no idea that it was so easy to get across campus, or how small and homey campus felt. On that visit, I met with two faculty members who assured me that the University was the best place for me to gain unique experiences. They were right. My experiences here have been incredible. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to work in a research lab, and now on the Necropsy floor at the Wyoming State Vet Lab. These experiences have shaped me and opened so many doors for me. This college experience has far surmounted any expectations of what I thought it would be. Laramie has become home to me, and I am so thankful for the opportunities that I have had here and I am so excited to continue to serve as an Ag Ambassador and share my experiences.
