The Wyoming Beef Ambassador program is one I have long been involved with. It is sponsored by the Wyoming Beef Council and the Wyoming CattleWomen (formerly cowbelles). It is designed to help give the beef community a voice and give youth a chance to represent the beef industry. This spring, the opportunity to run to be the Wyoming State Beef Ambassador presented itself. I decided that I would vie for the title. One thing led to another, and before I knew it I was a member of the Wyoming Beef Ambassador Team. With this title also came the opportunity to represent Wyoming at the national level this fall. At the end of September, the day I had been waiting for, finally arrived, it was the National Beef Ambassador Competition. This competition consists of four parts: consumer promotion, education and outreach strategy, media interview technique, and an issues response. The lucky five individuals that receive the highest scores would have the opportunity to travel around the country and promote beef. Nerves were high as the days flew by, and finally we were all sitting at the awards banquet. It was a blur from the time my name was called to join the team of outstanding individuals. This year, the team consists of me, Will Pohlman (Arkansas), Alicia Smith (Texas), Kalyn McKibben (Oklahoma), and Demi Snider (Ohio). I feel very blessed and humbled with this opportunity to serve the hard working farmers and ranchers in the United States.
