Vet Student Experiences and Research

My University of Wyoming College of Agriculture experience has been unforgettable and varied. I completed a bachelors degree in animal and veterinary science with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine in four years. During my undergraduate experience I competed on the Nordic ski team, meats and livestock judged, represented the College of Agriculture as an ASUW senator and conducted my own undergraduate research project. I had great professors and advisers in the College that helped me choose classes, offered advise on internships and ideas for my future. The faculty and staff are always willing and available to talk one-on-one and are invested in your success.

Currently I am completing a masters degree in veterinary science.  My research is a risk analysis of bluetongue virus infection in wild and domestic ungulates in Wyoming. Blood samples from mule deer, white-tailed deer, pronghorn, elk and domestic sheep have been tested for bluetongue antibody. Factors such as elevation, precipitation, temperature, and land-use type will be used to predictive the relative risk of bluetongue virus across the state.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the University of Wyoming and in Laramie. I like the small University atmosphere but appreciate the all the resources and educational opportunities that UW has to offer.  Laramie a great little town that is very quiet but is never lacking in things to do.
