A Home Away From Home

My name is Lauren Schiermiester and I am a senior studying Animal Science.  I have been a UW College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Student Ambassador for three years. With that said I have spent many hours working in the College of Ag and I have found that it has become my home away from home.

The staff and faculty in the College of Ag and Natural Resources are second to none.   When a student steps into the college and begins their endeavors they can count on a personal relationship with their advisor.  My advisor is Dr. Warrie Means.  I can tell you that he has been a wonderful mentor, teacher and advisor that will always offer wise advise and build students into avid learners.   In the office of Academic Programs Kelly Wiseman and Dr. Wangberg are always putting students first.  After all, from that office stems the motto for the college: Students, the reason we are here.  Teresa Jacobs Castano, our college counselor meets with student that need someone to talk to about study habits to homesickness.  Teresa is there to help students succeed.  There are many more faculty and staff members to mention as being wonderful, wise, and helpful to students.  If you come into visit I am sure you will realize this.

The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources strives to educate and lead students to become their best. Thus, making the college, the best.  Students that choose to make the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources their home away from home can expect to feel welcomed be supported in their education and feel sense of pride in the education they receive at the end of their stay.
