My University of Wyoming College of Agriculture experience has been unforgettable and varied. I completed a bachelors degree in animal and veterinary science with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine in four years. During my undergraduate experience I competed on the Nordic ski team, meats and livestock judged, represented the College of Agriculture as an ASUW senator and conducted my own undergraduate research project. I had great professors and advisers in the College that helped me choose classes, offered advise on internships and ideas for my future. The faculty and staff are always willing and available to talk one-on-one and are invested in your success.

Life as an Extension Intern with an Interior Design Minor!

Alex Krug
Alex Krug

Hi there! My name is Alex Krug and I’m a junior here at UW. I am originally from Chicago, IL. and am pursuing a degree in Agricultural Communications with a minor in Interior Design.

This semester, I have been given the opportunity to intern with the UW Extension office. UW Extension was established in 1914, and their goal is to help Wyoming citizens and communities respond to challenges and changes. UW Extension has offices in all 23 counties in the state and the Wind River Indian Reservation. Primarily, I have been doing graphics and layout for their multiple publications. It’s been a really great experience being able to get real “hands-on” work experience, but still have the support and guidance of the UW and Ag communities.

Thankful for Wyoming!

Cinnamon Smith
Cinnamon Smith

Hello Everyone!

I am Cinnamon Smith, a junior studying Agriculture Education and Agriculture Business at the University of Wyoming. Being raised on and Black Angus cattle ranch north of Gillette I learned how much of an impact Agriculture can have on our lives. After experiencing high school in one of the larger towns in our state and serving the Wyoming FFA as a state officer I can see the need for people to advocate for agriculture. This need led me to my chosen field of study. Agriculture Education opens a variety of doors for me as a student and I hope to do this for other students one day. I know I would not be the person I am today without the lessons I learned on the dust covered floors of my Agriculture Education classroom.

Hello!
It was a relatively short but exciting week for me here at the University of Wyoming. I actually was not here in Laramie for most of the week. Over the weekend, I took a field trip with the Food Science Club to South Dakota and Iowa. We traveled up to visit Mount Rushmore and then stayed in Deadwood. The next morning we were up before the sun to travel to Inwood, Iowa to tour Calico Skies a vineyard and winery. We learned about their venture into the wine industry, how they make their wine, and market it. On Monday, we met up with the University of Wyoming Meat Judging Team in Sioux Falls, SD to take a tour of the John Morrell pork processing plant.
