The Cowboy Way

The Cowboy Way- some might say it’s old fashioned, out of date, exclusive; the list goes on. The University of Wyoming launched a marketing campaign in 2017, “The World Needs More Cowboys”. You know, the word COWBOY, means a lot of things- to most of us it’s a heritage, a legacy, and a way of life. To us at the University of Wyoming it means that we know the value of hardwork, of kindness, of family. The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming values these three things. It creates an environment unlike any other. People are like a family, one that walks together, that learns together and grows together. We understand and the value of hardwork and kindness and we know for a fact, that the two together will create an unstoppable force that will get you wherever you want to go in life.

We have a sign hanging up in our house; it’s the first thing you see when you walk in the door. It says, “Work Hard & Be Nice”. I think this phrase says it all. They are the two most undervalued things. One reason I love this agriculture community so much is because the people are great examples of the them. People work sun up to sun down 365 days a year. Everyone in this world relies on them to feed them, and we have a responsibility to do it no matter what happens. The Agriculture community has a big family feel like nothing else. People take care of each other, build people up and help each other no matter what.

I promise hard work and kindness will get you wherever you want to go in this life. Its something extremely undervalued and underappreciated. It’s sometimes uncertain which direction the world’s headed, but I do know that the future is bright through the people at the University of Wyoming. We value the cowboy way- and I know for sure “THE WORLD NEEDS MORE COWBOYS.”
