Four Tips

In less than a month I will soon find myself at graduation. I never realized how fast this day would come. It seems like yesterday I was moving into the dorms and starting my college career and now it’s almost over. While I don’t know everything, here is a little bit of advice I would like to give to my fellow college students:

  1. Don’t stress! College can be hard but there are a lot of people here to help you along the way and stressing about that paper, presentation, or exam isn’t going to help. Do the best you can, ask for help and you will be just fine.
  2. Take advantage of every opportunity. There are so many paths you can take when in college, from internships, part time jobs, networking events, activities, etc. It’s important to try new things and push yourself to go outside of your comfort zone. I never knew how much I would love writing feature stories if it wasn’t for my reporting and newswriting course.
  3. Get to know your professors. When I walk through the College of Agriculture I know so many professors and feel comfortable stopping into their office for advice on school and life. Your professors are people too and they genuinely care about you and want you to succeed.
  4. Use this time to find your passion. Explore everything! From random classes to new clubs, you never know what you might fall in love with. When I first started college I was one major and now I will be graduating with two separate majors that are completely unrelated but combine everything I love.

And no, in case you were curious I am not quite ready to make the decision of what’s next for me but I’m not worried about it because I know I will be ready for whatever comes my way.
