I can’t believe it’s only four weeks until Summer break!  Between keeping up with classes and all of the AWESOME opportunities that the College of Agriculture provides, this semester has truly flown by.  I have been fortunate enough to receive a job at the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory (WSVL), working in the Necropsy department and will be working there this summer.  So far, working at the WSVL has been a great experience where I work side-by-side with UW’s professors of Veterinary Science.  I’m gaining a lot of hands-on experience that I will be able to use down the road in my career.

Happy Spring Time! It’s been quite the Semester of endless class lectures, exams and lab reports that seem to consume a good two hours over what originally thought. It’s safe to say that as spring blossoms arise and the sun swells, I anxiously await Summer time. I’m sure many of you are feeling this same spring time fever. I enjoy looking back upon the much needed and much too short blissful Spring Break. I hope you all encountered a break of some sort.

National Intercollegiate Meat Animal Evaluation Contest

Yet another spring break has come and gone! I know that several of my last blogs have talked about trips I have taken, but I am going to talk about one more. I spent the last half of my spring break and the first part of this week in Texas for the National Intercollegiate Meat Animal Evaluation Contest. This contest basically combines meat judging and livestock judging into a huge two day contest. We evaluated breeding stock, young animals, market ready animals, and carcasses over the two days. Not only was this a fun contest, but lots of meat industry leaders such as Tyson and Cargill come to this contest to talk to students about internships and potential jobs.
